The communities of Speculator, Lake Pleasant, Piseco,

Hamilton County, one of only two counties entirely within the
Adirondack State Park. Located at the crossroads of two of 14
Scenic Byways of the Adirondack North Country, Adirondack Trail
Scenic Byway and Southern Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway, we are
a region of spectacular beauty, historic richness and recreational
opportunity. From lakeside to mountain peaks, the entire Speculator
Region is a year-round paradise for nature lovers, adventurers
and recreationalists. With such a variety of scenery, activities,

The history of Speculator Region includes that of resident Gene
Tunney, the defending Heavy Weight Boxing Champion in the late
1920’s, who charged the locals fifty cents to see him practice.
He donated the proceeds to St. James Catholic Church in Lake Pleasant.
The Greek and Colonial Revival Style Hamilton County Courthouse
Complex in Lake Pleasant is on the National Register, and has,
since 1825, served as courthouse, government offices and jail.

Geocaching |
Geocaching is a Worldwide Game dedicated to GPS (Global Positioning System) users. The game involves a GPS user hiding "Treasure", and publishing the exact coordinates so other GPS users can come on a "treasure hunt" to find it.
